PAUL JOURNEAUX

I have more than 30 years’ experience as an accountant which means I can provide all the services you need to successfully manage and run your financial affairs, from undertaking your tax return to payroll through to business advice.

I enjoy working with my clients and fulfilling their expectations and I also understand the workings of HMRC, which is a crucial factor when choosing the right accountant for you.

Taking all the hassle out of dealing directly with HMRC allows you to relax knowing that I’m taking care of the ‘behind the scenes’ stuff so you can focus on what you do best: generating success for you, your team and your investors.

If there’s a financial problem then it’s a fairly good bet I’ve come across the same scenario over the past three decades and, as such, will be able to readily solve it for you.

As your trusted advisor, my role is similar to a doctor or a banker. As such, developing that same level of professional rapport and support is crucial to ensure I can help you achieve your aims, goals and dreams.
And that means the first meeting is for free. I’m happy to meet with you at a choice of location or you’re more than welcome to come to my office at the City Business Park in Stoke, Plymouth. The parking is free and the coffee here is very, very good!

All of the fees are agreed in advance and our subsequent meetings are covered within the costs (within reason!) which means if you have a query then simply pick up the phone and give me a ring (I’m at my desk by 0800 in the morning).

Some clients may seek advice around ‘time to pay’ arrangements with HMRC. This can help sole traders and businesses as it allows for the creation of instalment plans so you can clear what’s owed in a way which reduces the pressure on you and your finances.

I can also examine a business to see if it can save money and look at areas which could be more efficient.

Working through end of year accounts is ‘bread and butter stuff’ regardless of whether or not you’re a sole trader, partnership or limited company.
I have an outstanding knowledge of all the different systems which can be used in the production of your accounts: from the ‘old fashioned’ manual system of accounting through to using cloud-based technology.

I’m adept at using a variety of trademarked products designed to provide efficient accounting solutions from Xero and Sage to QuickBooks, Iris to TASbooks and many others.

In short, whatever system you’ve been using in the past, I can use any of them in the production of your future accounts.

Away from the office and I’m a keen Rugby fan. Having been born in Plymouth and growing up in a Royal Navy household, it’s not surprising that I’ve followed Plymouth Albion all my life.

My passion for the city means I’ve always been keen to ‘give something back.’ I’m genuinely humbled to see the ongoing success for a number of people who I’ve helped in the past 23 years as a business mentor for The Prince’s Trust.

Supporting young adults as they started their own business, or when they found their true pathway into adult life, was hugely rewarding.
It was an honour to have attended an event at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the charity and its amazing achievements.

I’m a former Ambassador for the Devon and Cornwall Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA), which sees me organising events and branch meetings for members.

I’m also the Treasurer for a local networking club, Down2Business, which organises regular meetings for dozens of sole traders and businesses from across Plymouth. It’s aim is to help local businesses grow and flourish.

With the relevant accountancy (and business) qualifications together with more than 30 years of expertise, plus hundreds of satisfied clients, I’m 100% confident that I can help work with you to assist your development throughout your journey.
